Promotional printing on folding rulers. Here’s how to order.
We print folding rulers with personalized images and graphics in high quality. On some of our classic wooden models, it is possible to print on both the sides and the end sections.
To order a folding ruler with promotional printing, first select a model and the surfaces you’d like to print on. Then create the images and graphics you’d like to use. You can create a finished layout yourself and send it to us, but you can also send us graphics, text, and images, and we’ll create a layout proposal for you. Finally, select the quantity. The minimum order quantity for most folding rulers is 50 units. We do not sell products with custom printing directly to the public. Therefore, please contact your local dealer to make a purchase.
You can print on both sides of all folding rulers; choose between printing on just one side or printing on both sides. On some of our most popular wooden folding rulers, it is also possible to print on the end sections. In this case, we use end sections with a different layout that accommodates both the scale and the print. You can choose various print combinations, as shown in the illustration below.

Selecting Images and Graphics
When we print on folding rulers, the process works just like using your home printer, so the only limits are those set by your imagination. But to achieve the best possible result, there are a few things you should keep in mind.
Avoid small details
You can choose almost any design, but keep in mind that when printing on the side of a folding ruler, there is a small gap between each section. This means it’s best to avoid very small text or images with very fine details, as they may disappear if printed over a gap.
Resolution
If you’re using pixel graphics—that is, images taken with a standard camera and edited in Photoshop, for example—the best results come from a relatively high resolution. This is usually not a problem, and an image that’s approximately 1900 pixels wide is generally sufficient. (For those who prefer a more technical specification: The image should have a resolution of at least 300 dpi if it has the same dimensions as the desired print area. For a print area of, say, 140 x 23 mm, the image would then require 1654 x 272 pixels.)
If you are working with vector graphics, resolution is not an issue; however, work at a 1:1 scale whenever possible, and adjust the graphics to fit the print areas specified for the respective product.

Colors
Images (pixel graphics) should be submitted in CMYK format, which in most cases means that the color profile must be changed from RGB to CMYK.
If you are working with vector graphics and want to specify exact colors, we use Pantone Solid Coated as a reference. If you don’t have color codes yourself, we can help you create color specifications that are suitable for your print.
Keep in mind that colors do not actually look the same when printing an image or graphic as they do on a screen. If you have access to a printer, you can test and print your layout before submitting it. Your printer may not produce exactly the same results as ours, but it will give you a better idea of how it will look compared to a screen.
File Formats
For standard images, we accept files in JPG, PNG, and TIFF formats. For vector graphics, we accept EPS, PDF, and AI.
Ordering and Delivery
Once we receive your print materials, we review them to ensure they are functional and can be printed in high quality. We’ll send you a proof so you can see what it looks like and then approve it for printing. Folding rulers with custom prints are delivered in boxes of 10 or 50 rulers each, or as packs of 5 in plastic packaging. Delivery takes between 3 and 6 weeks from the date your order is approved.
